Learning to fly is a lot easier than people think. You don't have to become a commercial or military pilot to fly. You can be part of general aviation.
Today there are thousands of people, just like you, learning to fly. They come from all walks of life and have a variety of reasons for wanting to be a pilot. Some fly to expand business opportunities. Others to explore careers in the aviation industry. Some are looking for an activity they can share with their families.
Most fly for sheer fun of it.
Whatever your reason, Tradewinds Flight Centre is here to help you meet your goals. We can accommodate you whether you choose our recreational program, or go all the way with our Commercial Pilot course. All you will have to do is meet a few simple requirements:
You must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Speak English
- Pass a basic medical exam
That's all....if you meet these requirements, you can fly. (You actually can start flying at 14 years of age, but you must be 16 years to solo).
To get started, go to our contact information and give us a call to set up an appointment for an introductory flight lesson at only $60.00. This includes a demonstration of how to prepare your aircraft for flight. Taxiing the aircraft on the ground. A demonstration of the takeoff and tour of your choice. You will have control of the aircraft for the majority of the flight.
It's time to begin....
Once you've made the decision, it's time to begin flight training. Pilot training consists of both ground and flight courses which cover the rules and regulations, navigation, flight planning, radio procedures and weather. We have ground schools starting in the spring and fall. It is not necessary for you to complete or even start the ground school prior to starting your flying lessons. In order to receive your licence you must pass the written exam provided by Transport Canada as well as the practical flight test.
